Baby Pun Celebrates Big Pun's Passing With New Track

The legacy of rapper Big Pun is being honored today (February 7) as his son releases a tribute record titled “Glamour Life 2010.”

Big Pun died of a massive heart attack on February 7, 2000. He is survived by his wife his ex-wife, Lisa Rios and three children, including his son, rapper “Baby Pun.”

Baby Pun has teamed with rappers Terminology, AC and Realm Reality to release “Glamour Life 2010,” which is a tribute to his father’s original 1998 track, which featured Terror Squad members Fat Joe, Cuban Link, Triple Seis and Armaggedon.

“Baby Pun loves his father and wanted to follow his footsteps,” Baby Pun‘s mom Lisa Rios said of her son on BigPunForever.com. “It’s just really crazy seeing Baby Pun because he looks just like his dad. He doesn’t try to be his pops, he just naturally is.”

Big Pun grew up in the South Bronx. He made his debut as a solo rapper in 1993, on The Beatnuts’ track “Off The Books.”

By 1995, he had linked with Fat Joe and appeared on Joe's second album, Jealous Ones Envy.

Three years later, in 1998, Pun released his classic album Capital Punishment, which contained the classic Hip-Hop single "Still Not A Player."

The album was also LP by a solo Latino artist to strike platinum.

Big Pun, 28, died just months before his second album, Yeeeah Baby was released.

He could not gain control over his weight issues, even after ballooning to over 500 pounds and several attempted interventions from family and friends.

Yeeeah Baby hit #3 on Billboard’s Top 200 upon its release and has since sold over a million copies.

In addition to Yeeeah Baby, a posthumous album, Endangered Species and two controversial documentaries, Still Not a Player and Big Pun: The Legacy have been released.

Saints Colors

Black and gold is the rage in South Mississippi lately, but adding a touch of red today will go a long way to support the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day.

This idea is going well, said Fiona Lipscomb, regional director with the American Heart Association Mississippi Gulf Coast. “We are loving the idea of combining what is familiar with this area, ‘the Who Dat Nation,’ and combining it to save lives.”

Lipscomb said businesses and companies have been calling her office wanting to know how they can incorporate red with the black and gold. People can wear a red top and black and gold on the bottom, red jewelry, a red tie or light their building up in red.

“We are thrilled the Saints have made it to the Super Bowl and couldn’t be happier that it (a black and gold day) would fall on National Wear Red Day,” said Lipscomb.

Prime Outlets’ national celebrity stylist Mark-Alan Harmon, who will be the keynote speaker at the Go Red For Women annual symposium today at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, gave some tips on how to wear the three colors, “Have black and gold as your basic pieces. The red should be an accent — a red bracelet, red headband or red sneaker.”

He also said people can go totally red and accent with the black and gold like a black and gold cap, but the most interesting way he preferred was to wear the black and gold and make it pop with the red.

Colors do play a significant role in the way you feel, said Harmon, and red is a power color.

The reason thousands of Americans will be wearing red today, said Lipscomb, is to draw attention to the fact that about 430,000 women die from cardiovascular disease annually. Wearing red honors these women and shows support and raises funds for research programs that can save lives. The American Heart Association Mississippi Gulf Coast can be reached at 604-5302.

Kleen Energy middletown ct Explosion

Police are reporting a gas explosion and fire at a power plant in Middletown, Connecticut.

Police tell NECN there has been an explosion at the Kleen Energy Power Plant at 1340 River Road.
The explosion happened shortly before noon.

Black smoke could be seen coming from the area.

It's unclear how many injuries there are but police say there are possible fatalities.

NECN sister station, WTNH in New Haven spoke to eyewitnesses.

Update : 1:50 PM - Connecticut emergency official says there are some fatalities in a power plant explosion.

Hartford Courant: There were as many as 20 ambulances at the plant.

Warren Sapp Arrested For Assault!

Warren Sapp was arrested on Saturday, with the arrest stemming from an alleged assault. Warren Sapp was arrested while in Florida for Super Bowl XLIV, where he was supposed to serve as a correspondent for the big game. It all went down at about 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6th when he is accused of attacking his girlfriend. He then found himself charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery from the incident, and wound up in jail as a result. Sapp has already been released on bail, and now his lawyer told a reporter from TMZ that everyone should reserve judgment on this case until all of the facts come out.

With Warren Sapp being arrested, his employer (NFL Network) suspended him from the network as they try to figure out exactly what took place. The suspension was denoted as "pending further investigation", but it really boils down to two different scenarios in the future of Warren Sapp. If he did this, and ends up facing jail time, he will probably be released from the network, but if it turns out he is completely innocent, NFL Network will probably strongly consider simply removing the suspension. The allegations aren't good though, as Sapp's girlfriend is alleging that he "grabbed her and began to choke her", before throwing her out of a room.

This is a big shock to fans of Warren Sapp, who may have seen his interview during an episode of Pardon the Interruption earlier this week. In that interview he talked about how he had "removed his claws", and acted like he was just a big teddy bear now. Most of his reporting duties have shown him as just that, and even though he was a really tough defender when he was an NFL player, it had seemed like he had become an extremely mellow player since he left the league. Now all he is getting is bad press, and for his sake he needs to let people know what happened before this turns into a whole new Tiger Woods situation.

Warren Sapp won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and could be a future NFL Hall of Fame player.

The World's Best 7-Layer Dip!

Ingredients

For beans

1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup oil
1 1/2 Tbsp. ground cumin
3/4 tsp. salt
1 cup water

For dip layers

1 cup shredded cheese
1 cup shredded lettuce
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/2 cup sour cream
Your favorite hot sauce

Directions

For beans

Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion and saute until translucent. Add ground cumin and salt. Saute one minute longer. Add water and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and mash with a potato masher until 50 percent of beans have broken up.

This portion of the recipe can be prepared a day in advance.

For dip

Place beans in a 1.5 to 2-quart baking dish. Cover with 1 cup of shredded cheese. Place the dish in a 350 degree oven just until cheese has melted. If you made your beans a day ahead, leave the beans in the oven a little longer until they heat up and the cheese melts.

Remove beans from oven and top with layers of shredded lettuce, onions, tomatoes, black olives, sour cream and hot sauce.

Serve warm with corn chips.

Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Dip - The Best!!

INGREDIENTS:

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup blue cheese or ranch salad dressing

1/2 cup any flavor FRANK'S® REDHOT® Sauce

1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese or shredded mozzarella cheese

2 cans (12.5 oz. each) SWANSON® White Premium Chunk Chicken Breast in Water, drained

DIRECTIONS:

HEAT oven to 350°F. Place cream cheese into deep baking dish. Stir until smooth.

MIX in salad dressing, Frank's RedHot Sauce and cheese. Stir in chicken.

BAKE 20 min. or until mixture is heated through; stir. Garnish as desired. Serve with crackers or vegetables.

TIPS:
Microwave Directions: Prepare as above. Place in microwave-safe dish. Microwave, uncovered, on HIGH 5 min. until hot, stirring halfway through cooking.

Tips: You may substitute 2 cups shredded cooked chicken.

Slow Cooker Method: Combine ingredients as directed above. Place mixture into small slow cooker. Cover pot. Heat on HIGH setting for 1 1/2 hours until hot and bubbly or on LOW setting for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Stir.

Tailgating Tip: Prepare dip ahead and place in heavy disposable foil pan. Place pan on grill and heat dip until hot and bubbly.

What Time Will The Super Bowl Start?

It’s party time for the Super Bowl fans. The Super Bowl 2010 contest will open shortly. The game will have Indianapolis Colts challenging the New Orleans Saints in their first match.

The Super Bowl XLIV is expected to commence at 6:00 PM Eastern Time in accordance with CBS, the network broadcasting the game. It may start even at 6:30 OM ET. The timing will be different for different areas and territories. It is 5:30 PM for Central, 4:30 PM for Mountain and 3:30 PM for Pacific.

The Colts are said to be in a tremendous form. They came out sparkling behind their All-Pro QB, Peyton Manning, to defeat the New York in the AFC Championship. Peyton, the former Super Bowl winner and the league MVP, will sweat it out against opposing QB Drew Brees to the football supremacy.

A lot of expectations are there for the fans who will obviously bet on their favorite teams. The first game will be played at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida. CBS’s important game coverage will start at 6:00 p.m. EST. For Orland’s, the NFC Champions, this is the first Super Bowl appearance but for Colts franchise this is the fourth appearance. If they win Colts will get their second title in four years.
